"The long course of human civilization is evident in time and in the history of the soil. Man is born on the soil, man gives birth to civilization and man returns to the soil after death. This is the cycle of civilization that repeats itself over and over again. As I mould, trim, glaze and fire the clay pottery, the soil imparts upon me the continuous cycle of civilization. Tea ware is not simply a tool to drink tea, but a vessel where one pours an essence into and empties out.
