TEA GRADE: Malcha grade (highest grade) - partially shade grown, hand-harvested in early spring, stone-milled
TASTE: Luxuriously smooth and slightly sweet with a light grassy aroma

Malcha is the Korean pronunciation of the Hanja characters 抹茶 (pronounced 'matcha' in Japanese, 'muocha' in Chinese), directly translating to “powdered/ground tea".

Traditionally considered the base of all tea, powdered green tea has been adored for its exquisitely smooth taste and vegetal fragrance. Partially shade-grown, the tender, bright green tea leaves for our Gamnong Malcha are hand-harvested and finely stone-milled into a soft powder with all the nutrients intact. Luxuriously smooth and slightly sweet in taste, this malcha has a light grassy aroma.

Drink traditionally, whisked in a dawan (tea bowl). 
Or simply add 1/2 teaspoon to a bottle of water (500ml/16.9oz), shake well and enjoy. 

Grand Master of Traditional Foods (or myung-in) is a distinguished title given to individuals in recognition of their extraordinary contributions in protecting and preserving the nation's traditional agricultural methods, manufacturing processes, and unique tastes of Korean culture. For two consecutive generations, Hankook Tea's founder Yang Won Seo, succeeded by his son Minsoo Seo, have each been appointed as the 34th and 54th Grand Master by the Ministry of Agriculture of South Korea, holding the title for both MALCHA (powdered green tea) as well as HWANG CHA (partially oxidized tea).
